What Next?

There are many, many, many, many, many ideas and plans for the near future of AHS Online.  The biggest priority for now is to answer these questions.

  1. How do I promote myself or my company on this website?
  2. How do I find people that compliment my interests?

For us there’ll always be room for improvement in responding to the questions above, albeit see the prioritized deliverables.

January 2010

  1. Re Engineer the home page to make it more “members” orientated.  Right now its “articles” orientated, and some of the articles may not mean much to other members.  We want to make members and their interests more visible on the home page so that we can respond to both questions above.  Watch the space for more developments. If you are into marketing please join the team because your advise is necessary.
  2. Feature Industry Leaders (this is a suggestion).  At AHS we have lawyers, bankers, politicians…. you name it.  As part of the new “layout and content” , we’d like to pull all industry leaders to occupy space on the home page and remind us of “hot topics” and things to look out for within their – If we had a way to avoid queuing at Home Affairs I think we’d all go for it. The Industry Leader will also have a “Group” where members can converge for Q&A’s. As an industry expert you’ll benefit from “new leads & business – you’ll be able to seamlessly communicate with your group members” and AHS members will be better equipped to respond to industry related situations.
  3. Improve Member Profiling.  We want your profile to be your resume.  So please tell us what you want to know about others, and what you want others to know about you.

February 2010

  1. Improve Membership Management and Automation: The Engine sort of exists, but its not yet stable.  We’d like to spend time stabilizing this engine to be able to manage large volumes of activities through the site.
  2. Improve ecommerce: We’d like members to be able to list their products on the website for online purchasing (like ebay).  So If you are into logistics, perhaps you may want to join the team. Again the engine is there, but we need to give it some steroids.  I’d like to think jointly we can make it easier for our tourists to purchase their accommodation and transport online - so if you are into hospitality Join the team

March 2010

  1. ecommerce for services & subscriptions: Traditionally eCommerce is optimized for tangile products (music, books, electronics etc).  We’d like to take it a step further and optimize it for service providers.  There’s no reason why I shouldn’t be able to subscribe to a laundry company through AHS Online and have my laundry sorted every week, and manage that account on AHS Online. ;)

As development progresses, these deliverables will have their own articles and discussions.  All you have to do is visit www.africa-heritage.com and you’ll updates from this blog as well.

It goes without say that we need industries to invest in the outcomes they want to see.  Please note, by donating you are actually investing in the change you want to see.  If you want to pursue another “idea” that I haven’t mentioned through ahs online, please feel free to do so through this platform and be the ambassador of hope.

Best Regards
